Staff at Upper Sturt Bush School are currently undertaking professional development with international experts in Nature Pedagogy, including PD with Jon Young (author of ‘Coyote’s Guide to Connecting with Nature’) and Dr Paul Astin (BA degree in Prehistoric Studies, bilingual teaching credential, Doctorate in Educational Leadership) founder of Manzanita School.
We have a community Facebook page for those who are interested. ‘Like’ our page to receive our notifications in your feed, posts about up-coming events, exhibitions, ideas, and information from the Upper Sturt School.
Our Out of School Hours program functions every afternoon from 3:30pm until 6:00pm. At this stage it is only after school care (not before school care of vacation care), but if there is a demand, they may be offered. At Upper Sturt After School Care children are offered healthy snacks, cooking lessons, art and craft, games and puzzles, sport activities, computer games, and G-rated DVDs. Please contact us for any information.
At the end of each term we hold a Showcase which highlights student learning for the term. Showcase is not only an excellent way to engage families in discussion around student learning but also a celebration of the amazing achievements of each student. The day/night will often include a dramatic performance, gallery walk, musical event, tour, picnic, auction, or other entertaining endeavor depending on the curriculum theme for that previous term. All Bush School families are invited to share in these end of term events, and they are always lively and inspiring tributes.
